M.G. van Winsen en Zn.

Located in the famous Dutch bulbsarea in the village Warmond.

A familycompany founded in the beginning of the 20th century and right from the start attached with the Gladiolus. Specialized in smallflowering Gladiolus like the Nanus, Collvilei, Ramosus, Tubergenii, Primulinus, and special exclusive  varieties. Many hybrids are attached with our familyname and village.

The oldest smallflowering hybrids are mostly first generation and oldest crosses between two South African botanic species from the winterrainfall area’s and still have their wild gracefulness in comparison to the big flowering  summerhybrids of these days.

Botanic wintergladiolus flowers in the winter of South Africa. The hybrids  from them need less light and heat and for that reason flowers much earlier  than the bigflowering hybrids  from botanic summergladiolus coming  from the summerrainfall area’s in South Africa.

The last years we picked up the hybridizing. The reason is the very small assortment of smallflowering hybrids en the demand for botanic gardenvarieties. At the time we have a descent number of new smallflowering and  extraordinairy varieties in our assortment and we want to share this with you.

We also have a great number of botanic wild varieties in our assortment which some of them are lovely scented en also suitable to grow on pots as perennial. The height of these gladiolus is starting at 15 cm. They have mostly an extra ornamental value by making lovely capsules after flowering.

All the gladiolusvarieties will be sown, nursed or under our management nursed. We and the appointed controlling authorities in the Netherlands will guarantee topquality and naturally the service that will be expected from a familycompany. Our company is focused on wholesale but we can give you contactdetails who are selling most of our products in small quantities.

Enviromental we are officially MPS-A certified. That will say that we less burden the environment than the standard norm.

With kind regards,
Mark van Winsen

We  are open for all information about old varieties which are still in circulation or present on our website but also new varieties which we don’t know about it. We know that there are many varieties still grown by amateur gardeners and hybridizers and thought to be extinct.
